Staffs GC took advantage of the hard runways at Sleap following an exceptionally wet period of weather. Many members enjoying the opportunity to keep their hand in and to operate in a different environment. This included Andy Chapell and Dave Knibbs in their new toy - a shiny Duo Discus XLT.

What a great day to end the year on......3 gliders enjoying wave flights approaching 10000' and sharing the fun in the sky with some of our colleagues from RAF Shawbury GC.

Sleap Airfield change of operational procedures.
Please note that effective 14/05/21, fixed wing circuits at the weekend will be left hand. Circuits Mon-Fri will remain to the east. Click here for further details and please note this change is not yet incorporated in the groups flying notes.

What a day for our first post lockdown operations! 5 gliders enjoyed in total nearly 25 hours wave soaring including several hundred km's and 2 flights of just over 19000' taking in the North Wales coast.

Just as we were beginning to take full advantage of a return to flying and the advantage of our tarmac runways and its time to stop flying again for the latest lockdown.

Nevertheless we welcomed visitors during December including a rare bird, ASK14 G-CKFS flown for its first time in the new ownership of Graham Stanford.

Back in the air again! 

It was fantastic to start flying again today, two gliders enjoying a couple of hours soaring in mixed wave and thermal.

In line with government guidelines and legislation, the group has temporarily suspended operations. Our small soaring group is ideally suited to resume flying when the time comes but in the mean time more guidance on the impact of Covid-19 on gliding is available here.
